Purpose Statement
The Corporate Project Director, Outpatient Services partners with Acadia acute and specialty facilities across the US to build best-in-class Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs. Acadia’s PHP and IOP programs represent a critical component of the behavioral healthcare continuum, and this role will partner with facilities to step-down acute and residential inpatients to outpatient programming, as well as meet community needs for patients and referrers looking to “step up” to PHP/IOP programs.
The Corporate Project Director, Outpatient Services Will
Essential Functions
Identify PHP and IOP program growth opportunities and - through consultation with facility and corporate leaders - oversee planning, development, and implementation of outpatient-related growth plans.
Lead implementation, in partnership with facility operations teams, of new PHP and IOP programs.
Train and coach facility directors of outpatient services, with a focus on helping them meet expected KPIs – visits, revenue, EBITDA, patient retention, patient satisfaction, clinical quality, staff retention, etc. Lead outpatient programs day-to-day when facility director is on leave or role is vacant.
Ensure each assigned program complies with regulatory and accreditation agencies’ regulations, patients’ rights, and regulatory standards.
Partner with key Acadia stakeholders to standardize outpatient processes and cascade best practices. For example, assist in improving collaboration among inpatient and outpatient teams to increase inpatient step-downs to outpatient programs (when clinically appropriate) and partner with business development and marketing teams for referral management and community partnership in surrounding areas of each outpatient program.
At least 80-90% of time will be spent traveling to facilities. May include several consecutive weeks at one facility or rotations to multiple facilities.

The Corporate Project Director, Outpatient Services Will
- Serve as the interim Director of Outpatient Services (DOP) at facilities with a leadership vacancy
- Provide extended onsite support to interim leaders when needed
- Facilitate smooth leadership transition during the onboarding go new permanent DOP hires
- Support growth of outpatient services across Acadia facilities

- Master’s or Doctorate-level Licensed Clinician – e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, PhD (Clinical, Counseling or Educational Psychology) or PsyD
- Minimum of 5-7 years in healthcare operations, including some managerial experience.
- Experience with PHP and IOP levels of care required. Preference for experience working with acute psychiatric hospital providers.
- Proven experience successfully implementing new programs and scaling operational programs.
- Prior experience in multi-facility, multi-business unit operations across multiple geographies.
- Understanding of basic P&L components and strong fiscal management skills.
- Ability to interpret data and apply that to an analysis of performance and productivity (experience developing, tracking, analyzing, and reporting KPI’s).
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven experience building, managing and motivating teams.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills among audiences ranging from front-line clinical staff to operations leaders
