POSITION TITLE: Lead Youth Development Professional

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.
Primary Function
Under the supervision of the Club Director and Program Director, the Lead YDP will assist with successful planning, developing and implementation of programs and services to achieve the Formula for Impact for Club members. The Lead YDP will also act as a mentor to new Youth Development Professionals (YDP).
Key Roles
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be required to work on some weekends and/or extended hours for special events and/or programs.
Relationships
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club Staff (professional, part-time and volunteers), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and/or advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with other clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information, and resolve problems.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Pinellas County for training and/or other business purposes.

- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- Promote and stimulate program participation.
- Register new members and participate in the club orientation process.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for club members and visitors.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the Club always.
- Prepare lesson plans and various activities for members to engage in to promote diverse programming daily.
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.

Skills/Knowledge Required
- Must have Staff Member in Charge (SMIC) credentials or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Group leadership skills, including and understanding of group dynamics.
- Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
- Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay.
- Demonstration of the ability to communicate with different groups.
- Successful supervisory experience.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
- High school diploma or GED; some college or college degree preferred.
- 2-3 years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by our insurance carrier (minimum age 21).
