Department Projects & Tasks
Publications presents a rotating structure that works closely with the three sections of our department — production, editorial, business & marketing — followed by career-focused resources and guidance. Therefore, the intern can expect to learn and assist with some of the following tasks, depending on existing timelines: layout design; obtaining images; color proofing and corrections; rights clearance; proofreading; award submissions; marketing and sales materials. In addition to these focused projects, they will also work with the department manager on administrative tasks, such as archiving; book distribution; conference and event planning.
This opportunity will provide the intern with a generous exposure to art publishing and training for an entry-level role at a publishing house or museum. The intern will work on a range of in-progress projects, which will include publications set to publish in the Fall of 2026 and the Spring of 2027. Additionally, the intern will likely participate in some opportunities related to the upcoming Marcel Duchamp exhibition.
Department Skillset Requirements
Candidates with a significant interest in publishing and/or one of its focuses (production, editorial, or business/marketing). Sufficiency in the Microsoft suite is required. Sufficiency in Adobe suite is encouraged but not required. A strong grasp of the English language is required for editing support on English-language materials.
