The Opportunity
Columbus Regional Health (CRH) is in search of a distinguished, mission-driven President & Chief Executive Officer to steer this community-oriented health system into its next chapter of growth, transformation, and operational excellence. This role offers a dynamic, performance-focused leader the ability to build upon CRH’s rich legacy—promoting organizational revitalization, improving financial performance, cultivating leadership talent, and enhancing the system’s capacity to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to the Indiana communities it serves.
The Position
The President & Chief Executive Officer of CRH serves as the organization’s top executive leader, responsible for guiding the strategy, operations, financial performance, and cultural direction of the health system. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the President & CEO will provide decisive, transparent, and forward-looking leadership to ensure CRH delivers high-quality, patient-centered care while navigating the evolving needs of the community and the complexities of today’s healthcare environment. This executive will oversee all system functions—including clinical operations, financial stewardship, workforce engagement, medical staff relations, and strategic growth—and will collaborate closely with the Board, medical staff, and senior leadership team to advance organizational priorities. The President & CEO will lead efforts to strengthen organizational stability, improve operational performance, drive excellence in quality and safety, and position CRH for sustainable long-term success.
The Ideal Candidate
Columbus Regional Health is an independent health system based in southcentral Indiana, with net patient revenue of approximately $509 million, and a proud member of the Cleveland Clinic Connected program. We hold a more than 108-year history as a premier healthcare provider in the state, and a top employer in our flagship community of Columbus, Indiana.
Columbus Regional Health (CRH) is comprised of more than 2,600 workforce members, including nearly 200 physicians and 150 volunteers. Columbus Regional Hospital, the system’s anchor facility, is a 225-bed non-profit, providing emergency and surgical services and comprehensive care in numerous specialty areas. Columbus Regional Health Physicians offers a network of primary and specialty care physicians.
The Location:
Columbus, Indiana – with a population of about 50,000 – is known for artistic and architectural appeal. Columbus is ranked sixth in the nation for Architectural Innovation and Design by the American Institute of Architects, right behind Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington DC. The community is home to eight buildings designated as National Historic Landmarks by the National Park Service and most of the structures in the downtown are on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also home to the headquarters of Fortune 500 Company Cummins, which is a hub for manufacturing, and maintains a strong agricultural presence. The President & CEO will lead efforts to strengthen organizational stability, improve operational performance, drive excellence in quality and safety, and position CRH for sustainable long-term success.
The Ideal Candidate
- Master’s degree in hospital administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience required, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive leadership capacity strongly preferred.
- Prior CEO experience highly preferred.
- Experience within an independent, community-based health care environment.
