Position Overview
The Director of MGC Medical Subspecialty - Orthopedics and Surgical Services provides leadership in planning, developing, and executing the strategic objectives necessary to build a high performing, best in class medical group division. In partnership with Medical Group of the Carolinas Executive Leadership, this role leads growth initiatives, operational strategy, technology advancement, and financial performance for orthopedic and surgical specialties.
This role requires a strong ability to build physician relationships, lead administrative teams, and translate strategy into actionable operational plans. The Director will support both current performance and long-term growth through collaborative, creative, and decisive leadership.

What You Will Do
- Lead the development and execution of strategic and operational plans for orthopedic and surgical subspecialty practices
- Partner with Medical Group of the Carolinas Executive Leadership on growth initiatives, new service offerings, and technology adoption
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employed physicians and practice leadership
- Develop policies, procedures, and operational infrastructure to support expansion and long-term sustainability
- Direct the financial and business affairs of the division, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial accountability
- Recruit, develop, and lead administrative leadership teams that support high performing practices
- Monitor operational and financial performance and report regularly to executive leadership
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations impacting physician practices
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality without compromising patient care
- Represent the organization in relationships with community partners, professional organizations, and external stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in physician practice management – orthopedic & surgical services
- Strong knowledge of financial management, marketing, billing, information systems, and human resources
- Proven experience building operational infrastructure to support growth and complex medical group environments
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field
- Lead high impact subspecialty services within a respected healthcare system
- Partner closely with physicians and executive leaders
- Influence growth strategy across orthopedics and surgical services
- Make a meaningful impact on access, quality, and operational excellence
