Provide environmental support to Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) Petaluma and US Coast Guard units throughout the area of responsibility. Environmental Support Services include environmental compliance, hazardous material program management, biological and cultural reviews and consultations, and environmental planning support (environmental impact reviews and permitting).
Scoping and managing soil remediation projects, storm water management, and wastewater and reclaimed irrigation water projects.

Job Description
Provide environmental support to Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) Petaluma and US Coast Guard units throughout the area of responsibility. Environmental Support Services include environmental compliance, hazardous material program management, biological and cultural reviews and consultations, and environmental planning support (environmental impact reviews and permitting).
Scoping and managing soil remediation projects, storm water management, and wastewater and reclaimed irrigation water projects.
- Conducting evaluations across TRACEN Petaluma and outlying Area of
- Responsibility, property, assets and infrastructure to ensure the unit stays in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Specific assignments include but are not limited to:
- Prepare environmental analysis of US Coast Guard engineering and real property actions in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
- Support consultation with regulatory agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Tribal cultural or historical liaisons, State Historic Preservation Office, and other regulatory and partner stakeholders through meetings, phone calls, and written analysis and consultation.
- Support regular and periodic environmental compliance evaluation (ECE) with TRACEN Petaluma staff and assist in identifying and resolving compliance issues at TRACEN Petaluma and outlying units.
- Assist in scheduling hazardous waste disposals and reviewing disposal documentation.
- Provide technical assistance and support to attain and maintain compliance with all Federal, State and local environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous materials management and hazardous waste management and disposal.
- Assist in unit compliance review in support of regulatory fee payments and technical support.
- Conduct site visits and review contractor submittals for technical and legal sufficiency. Be available to provide technical support answering questions and interpreting conflicting information
- Meet with visiting project biologists or cultural observers as a TRACEN Petaluma sponsor.
- Provide environmental compliance support for other projects as assigned.
- Provide regular verbal and written updates of all project status as a routine aspect of coordinating all assigned tasks.
- Support management, tracking & recording of the recurrence of regulatory actions/inspections. Maintain calendar tracking of regulatory events and timelines for routine environmental reporting requirements.

- Experience in environmental compliance procedures utilized by the Federal Government is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Physical, or Biological Studies, or a related field, or in the process of obtaining such a degree. Related work experience may be substituted for educational degrees.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in the environmental field, and three years’ general work experience.
- Working knowledge and experience with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
- Must have recent Hazardous Materials and Waste Management (HAZWOPER) certification or be able to obtain such certification within 60 days of assignment.
