Program Overview
The GW Hospital nurse residency program combines lectures, e-learning, and hands-on skills lab experiences with clinical applications in an acute care setting. Each intern is paired with an experienced RN preceptor in the clinical area. After completing the internship, nurses begin the Nurse Residency Program, as our goal is to achieve a successful and smooth transition for the new nurse. This one-year program is designed to support nurses in their ongoing professional development. The program includes monthly classes, debriefing sessions, an evidence-based project, and oversight by the Nurse Residency Coordinator.
Program Start Date : Monday October 21, 2025
New grad RNs MUST have taken their NCLEX and passed before the start of the program. It is strongly recommended to sit for a DC RN license when registering to take your boards.

- Min GPA of 3.0 or greater from an accredited NLN or AACN RN program.
- BSN required OR enrollment and completion of BSN within 5 years
- DC License or eligibility
- Current CPR Certification by AHA or ARC
- Other certifications may be required based on each unit's requirements.
