Barstool Sports is seeking a Production Tech Intern to support the Wake Up Barstool team and the CHQ Control Room in our Chicago office. This role offers hands-on experience in live television engineering, control room operations, and broadcast technology for a daily, early-morning sports talk show.
You will work directly with the Wake Up Barstool Director/Technical Director, assisting with daily show setup, live production support, and post-show technical development. This internship is ideal for students interested in live broadcast engineering, technical directing, and production technology.
This internship runs from May 26 to August 28 , is based 100% in our Chicago office, and requires an early daily call time of 5:00 AM .

What You’ll Do
- Assist with daily technical setup for Wake Up Barstool, including studio and control room preparation.
- Support the Director/TD during live broadcasts as an extra set of hands, eyes, and ears in the control room.
- Help monitor audio, video, graphics, and streaming elements to ensure smooth live execution.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues in real time under supervision.
- Assist with testing new production workflows, equipment, and technical setups.
- Collaborate with the production team post-show to brainstorm and help execute creative technical ideas.
- Support additional large-scale live streams operated out of the CHQ Control Room as needed.
- Rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Broadcast Production, Television Engineering, Media Technology, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong interest in live production, control room operations, or broadcast engineering.
- Basic understanding of studio equipment, signal flow, audio/video systems, or live streaming technology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm in a fast-paced, live environment.
- Willingness to work early mornings and adapt to the pace of daily live production.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with on-air talent and production teams.
- Passion for sports and live media is a plus.
