Full-time
Austin
Salary: $285,879 - $88/Yr
Master (>10 yrs)
STV is seeking a Regional Development Director (RDD) to help define and accelerate the growth of our Transportation South operating group. This is a senior, market‑shaping leadership role for a growth executive who thrives at the intersection of strategy, client leadership, and disciplined execution.

As one of the nation’s ENR's Top 500 transportation and infrastructure focused firms , STV delivers planning, design, engineering and program/construction management services across highways, bridges, rail and transit, utilities, and complex infrastructure programs that keep communities moving.

Reporting to the Operating Group President , the Regional Development Director serves as a trusted advisor and challenger —translating corporate strategy into intentional, region‑wide growth. Transportation South is central to STV’s long‑term ambitions, and this role plays a critical part in shaping where and how the firm grows next.

What You’ll Do

Lead Regional Growth & Portfolio Strategy

You are the senior growth leader responsible for the strategic expansion of Transportation South .

  • Shape and steward a balanced portfolio of services and markets that supports resilient, long‑term growth.
  • Provide data‑driven recommendations on where to play and how to win across current, adjacent, and emerging markets.
  • Translate Operating Group and enterprise strategy into clear regional growth priorities, investment decisions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to regional leadership, aligning opportunity, capability, and capacity.

Orchestrate Marketing & Business Development

You provide executive leadership to regional marketing and business development functions.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional marketing and BD teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence.
  • Orchestrate pursuit strategy, capture planning, and market engagement in support of priority growth initiatives.
  • Own and manage the regional Business Development and Marketing budget, directing resources toward the highest‑return opportunities.
  • Serve as an integral member of major strategic pursuit teams, ensuring STV’s full capabilities are mobilized to win.

Guide Client Strategy & Strategic Accounts

You play a visible, senior role in shaping client relationships and experience.

  • Guide Client Service Teams, District Managers, and Area Managers as a senior member of capstone and core client teams.
  • Engage directly with key clients to understand evolving needs and position STV’s full suite of services—from planning and engineering to program management, alternative delivery, resiliency, and owner’s representative services.
  • Champion a client‑centric culture that looks beyond individual projects to long‑term partnerships and continuous improvement.

Partnering, Teaming & Civic Engagement

You strengthen STV’s market position through intentional external leadership.

  • Coordinate across areas and regions to develop effective teaming and partner strategies.
  • Work with Area Managers to establish a consistent, region‑wide civic and industry engagement plan.
  • Represent STV with clients, industry partners, and public‑sector stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Elevate STV’s visibility through leadership roles and participation in key industry and professional associations.

Enterprise Alignment & M&A Awareness

You operate with an enterprise mindset while maintaining strong regional focus.

  • Collaborate with corporate leadership and the Chief Development Officer to align regional growth initiatives with firm‑wide strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of regional M&A opportunities and market trends, providing insight and recommendations (not execution).
  • Act as an ambassador for STV’s values, culture, and long‑term strategic direction.

What You’ll Demonstrate

  • Goal‑Oriented Leadership: Ability to set ambitious, achievable growth targets and hold teams accountable through data‑driven KPIs.
  • Strategic Thinking & Judgment: Capacity to synthesize enterprise vision, market intelligence, and regional realities into sound growth decisions.
  • Executive Communication: Clear, persuasive communicator with executives, teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Adaptability: Agility to adjust strategy in response to changing market conditions while preserving portfolio balance.
  • Strategic Alignment: Strong understanding of operational and financial realities while remaining consultative rather than operationally accountable.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of progressive experience in AEC professional services within the transportation planning, engineering, and/or construction management sector.
  • Degree in a related technical or marketing field preferred; MBA a plus.
  • Demonstrated success shaping positioning and win strategies for alternative delivery models, including Design‑Build, CM/GC, Progressive Design‑Build, and P3/PPP.
  • Proven accountability for top‑line growth, revenue targets, or major capital program outcomes.
  • Deep industry relationships across the Southern U.S., including:
    • Local, state, and federal agencies (DOTs, transit, aviation, municipalities)
    • Industry teaming partners and professional associations
    • Civic and community leaders
  • Hands‑on leadership experience across business development, and marketing in a matrixed AEC environment.
  • Executive presence and credibility as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and clients.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the Southeast, including Texas, Florida, the Carolinas, and the Washington, DC metro area.

Ready to shape growth, influence innovative delivery models, and define the future of transportation projects across the South?
