The Safety Officer II is responsible for overseeing and enforcing compliance with occupational health and safety standards on a general construction site. This role involves conducting risk assessments, implementing safety policies, leading safety audits and inspections, and ensuring that all site operations are conducted in a safe and legally compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the projects Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP).
- Ensure compliance with DOLE, OSH, and other applicable safety regulations and standards.
- Supervise and coordinate with Safety Officers I and II, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Conduct and document daily site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
- Lead safety toolbox meetings, orientations, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with site management, contractors, and government bodies on safety-related concerns.
- Maintain and submit all required safety documentation and permits.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its availability.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and first aid implementation on site.
- Must be a Safety Officer III.
- Preferably with COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) training.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a safety officer in general construction.
- In-depth knowledge of RA 11058 and DO 198-18 (Philippine Occupational Safety and Health Law).
- With additional 40 hours safety training related to construction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an advantage.
